Casa Ainbo Sustainable Education
for children in the Amazon, Peru

Melle Co collaborates with Casa Ainbo, an educational program for children. Our educational program for children, Casa Ainbo, guided by local and international volunteers, has managed to provide adequate education in remote communities, impacting more than 60 children aged between 7 and 15 and 30 women in Iquitos, Peru.

Our volunteers and teachers conducted classes in Mathematics, English, Spanish and Science – teaching contents of the Peruvian curriculum and beyond. Our aim is to reinforce, prepare, and open their minds to new knowledge and experiences. In addition to classes, workshops were also provided to develop their creativity and talents in art, sports, and music.

We had the pleasure of hosting 21 volunteers, each bringing their own magic and special presence to Casa Ainbo. And with their commitment and dedication, our teachers and volunteers have transformed lives, promoted education and created hope for a better future in the community.

Ainbo means women.

Casa Ainbo means women’s house – a safe place for them to learn, grow, and be themselves.

And our goal is to continue promoting education for children and women and create a safe, inviting space where they will be empowered, supported, and accomplished.

To become a volunteer in Casa Ainbo you need to pass an interview and be over 18.

Education and Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of our mission. Our purpose is to cultivate environmental education by creating engaging and transformative programs for our kids and community. We’re doing this by building an ecological brigade with the kids, nursing a vegetable garden and integrating environmental topics into our science and art classes. We aim to educate the future generation to protect and care for their environment.

Additionally, we started facilitating computer classes for kids and English classes for adults to provide them with the skills they need for their future. We also have a focus on getting more art supplies for our lessons and more books in English and Spanish for kids.

Women and Girls Empowerment and Healthcare

As gender inequalities are still deeply rooted, many women and girls lack access to employment opportunities, basic education, and healthcare. Our goal is to continue to conduct workshops on healthcare, sex education, empowerment and well-being.

We aim to open practical workshops in business, tourism and crafts that will provide them with additional knowledge and skills. Additionally, we aim to collaborate with local businesses to create fair and sustainable job opportunities for the women in the area – and hope our actions will help them to gain confidence, thrive, and achieve their goals in life.
